Nelahozeves Chateau
We will start our private tour in the Nelahozeves Chateau. The chateau was founded in 1553 by Florian Gryspek of Gryspach, who served as a counsellor of the emperor Ferdinand I.. Florian used the chateau as his private residence and kept his private collections of art there. During his time the Nelahozeves chateau was a widely visited cultural center of the area. Since 1623 the chateau has been owned by the Lobkowicz noble family, which retained ownership until today. Only in the period 1950-1993 the chateau belonged to the state after the communist regime confiscated it. The current owner’s name is William Lobkowicz who was born in 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts.
