Prague’s Jewish Quarter Tour

Our private guide will come to your hotel and together you will walk to the Jewish Quarter. Although Prague’s Jewish Quarter was modernized in the beginning of the twentieth century , it is unique in Europe and it belongs to the main highlights of the city. You will see the Spanish Synagogue, gorgeous temple built in moorish style in 1868. Inside the Spanish Synagogue and the Maisel Synagogue you will learn the history of Czech Jewish Community from the 10th century up to modern times. You will hear stories about famous and influential Czech Jewish personalities such as Franz Kafka, Karel Polacek, Ludwig Moser or Emil Kolben. In the heart of the former Ghetto is located the Old New Synagogue, active Temple since 1270. Our guide will explain to you the legend of Golem. We will stroll through the Old Jewish Cemetery where the great scholars Avigdor Kara and Rabbi Low are buried. We will see the baroque Klausen Temple and Ceremonial Hall. We will visit Pinkas Synagogue, the Memorial of the Holocaust, on the first floor of which we will see children drawings from the concentration camp Terezin. We will visit Maisel Synagogue, former private Temple of Mordechaj Maisel. Inside we can admire the digitalized Langweil Model of Prague which shows us how Prague’s Jewish Quarter originally looked like at the beginning of the 19th century.
