Pilsen can be rightfully called the beer capital of the Czech Republic. However the beer there wasn’t always good. In 1839 the Pilsner beer was so bad that the locals decided to pour all the barrels in the sewers and start anew. They invited a Bavarian brewmaster Josef Groll to help with the beer situation. Mr. Groll invented a brand new type of beer which was very smooth. It became known as the Pilsner style lager. The first ever pilsner lager was made for the first time in 1842 and became Pilsner Urquell. Come with us to this beautiful city and taste one of the most famous beers in the world!
